The
Benefits of Health Screening
We all generally only consider important health issues such
as diabetes, cholesterol, cancer, thyroid problems, arthritic
factors, or other health related conditions, which could adversely
affect our lives, only after they have been diagnosed. All
of these conditions can potentially be detected at an early
stage by health screening.
Healthworks screening tests are used to try to detect a disease
at the earliest possible stage. This is often when there are
no signs or symptoms that a person actually has a problem.
For example, measuring cholesterol levels helps to identify
one of the risks of heart disease. The screening tests are
used as a tool to detect a potentially serious and evolving
condition.
There are a number of diseases that exist and remain undiagnosed
that can adversely affect our quality of life. The majority
of these conditions can be corrected or improved through a
simple course of treatment once they have been detected by
health screening.
The fully comprehensive Healthworks Health Screen is designed
to provide a thorough evidence based evaluation of your health
and well-being.
Additional tests for men include: Prostatic examination (if
over 50 years of age and if clinically indicated), testicular
examination and instruction in testicular self-examination.
PSA (if aged 50 years or over) to help assess risks of prostate
cancer.
Additional tests for women include: Breast examination and
instruction in breast self-examination. Thyroid Stimulating
Hormone level, if aged 50 or over.
Health assessments are not a taxable benefit for employees.
This is making them increasingly attractive to employers and
employees alike with many employers now including them as an
important part of their benefits packages. They can be offered
on a mandatory or voluntary basis for certain staff or as part
of a flexible benefits package.
