We have employed a number of clinical
specialists from a variety of disciplines. Below is
a list of specialists working for Healthworks Clinics.

Mel
Henry - Physiotherapist

Mel is a chartered physiotherapist qualifying with
a BSc (Hons) from the University of Hertfordshire in
1998.
Prior to joining Healthworks, he was a senior physiotherapist at
Bognor Regis War Memorial Hospital. He was responsible for running
a busy Rheumatology department specialising in dealing with arthritic
conditions and working closely with various consultants including
rheumatology and pain consultants.
It was during this time that Mel gained his Diploma in Injection
Therapy and starting his Masters Degree in Physiotherapy. Other
Postgraduate skills Mel has acquired include Acupuncture, Osteopathic
type Manipulations, Myofascial And Deep Tissue Release techniques.
Mel has a keen interest in sports injuries working initially as
an assistant physio at Watford F.C. for two years. From there he
went on to become Hertford R.F.C First XV physio for 4 seasons,
culminating in a Powergen Cup final win at Twickenham. He is currently
the physiotherapist for Bognor Regis Town F.C.
Mel is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP),
the Organisation of Chartered Physiotherapists in Private Practise
(OCPPP) and the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists

Jery
Nicholson – Physiotherapist / Clinical
Specialist in Shoulder Therapy

Jery attained a BSc Hons Degree in Physiotherapy from
the University of Northumbria in 1996.
After qualifying, he spent time working as a rotational physiotherapist
gaining experience in areas such as outpatients, spinal injuries,
orthopaedics, neurosciences, medicine and paediatrics.
He then worked as the club physiotherapist for the Gateshead and
Hull Rugby League and Super League clubs, working with elite Rugby
players.
He has experience working as an extended scope physiotherapist,
working alongside an orthopaedic consultant, which involves requesting
x-rays and listing people for surgery. He has a wide range of experience
and has a specific interest in shoulder dysfunction although he
can treat many conditions such as neck and back pain, whiplash,
knee and ankle problems to name a few.
He also has a post graduate certificate in managing peripheral
joint, soft tissue dysfunction and a postgraduate diploma in injection
therapy. |

Tim
Eden – Physiotherapist / Clinical
Specialist in Biomechanics
& Exercise Physiology

Tim
qualified eight years ago from Brunel University as
a physiotherapist. Prior to this Tim had gained a degree
in Sports Science majoring in Biomechanics and Exercise
Physiology. This training and Tim’s
professional experience have given him an exceptional
background in the diagnosis and treatment of not
only Sports Injuries but general muscle and joint
problems. Tim is also the Physiotherapist for Worthing
Ruby Club.
Tim’s achievements in physiotherapy
include:
- Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports
medicine Southern region representative and also
education committee member.
- He was previously the full time medical co-ordinator
and first XV physiotherapist at London Wasps RFC.
- He is currently the Sussex RFU senior physiotherapist.
- Tim has special interests in Musculoskeletal
movement dysfunctions and muscle imbalances.
- Acupuncture which he particularly uses for the
treatment of soft tissue problems.
- Spinal Manual Therapy and Sports Injury Rehabilitation.
Tim is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
(CSP), the Organisation of Chartered Physiotherapists
in Private Practise (OCPPP) and the Acupuncture
Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP).

Alison
Davis –Physiotherapist

Alison Qualified as a chartered physiotherapist in
1976 at the School of Physiotherapy, The Middlesex
Hospital, London.
After Qualifying she gained valuable experience working
at the Middlesex hospital and then spending a further
eight years at Queen Mary’s Hospital, Roehampton.
During this time she became the senior physiotherapist
in charge of the Regional Burns, Plastic Surgery and
Hand Unit. During this time she also worked at the
RAF Chessington Rehab Unit, during the Falklands war
and up to its closure in March 2006.
Alison has also worked at the King Edward VII Hosptial,
Midhurst. She Established the Hand Therapy Unit at
the hospital, for 16 years up to its Closure in March
2006. During her time there Alison worked closely with
the Hand Consultant and provided a complete hand therapy
care package.
Alison has worked at Healthworks for the last 2 Years,
as is another of Healthworks very experienced clinical
specialists. She has an extensive background in all
aspects of Hand Therapy. Her skills include Pre and
post surgery treatment and advice, overall care of
the arthritic hand, post wrist and hand fracture rehabilitation,
general hand sprains, strains and injury and Alison
can also custom make splints.
Alison has done much teaching and lecturing, and has
written chapters in various medical text books.
Alison is a member of:

Jane
Haydon – Physiotherapist / Clinical Specialist
in lower limb disorders

Jane qualified as a chartered physiotherapist from
King’s College Hospital in 1989. After qualifying
she gained valuable hospital experience in orthopaedics,
outpatients, paediatrics and elderly care.
Jane spent two seasons as the physiotherapist for
Chichester Rugby Club, culminating in a post graduate
Diploma in Academic and Practical Sports Physio from
the London Hospital in 1993.
She continued her post graduate studies and in 1995
completed a Master’s degree in Musculoskeletal
Physiotherapy from UCL (London).
While in London Jane worked both privately and in
the NHS where she further developed her special interest
in lower limb injuries and running dysfunctions.
Jane also treats posturally and work induced neck
and back pain, muscle imbalance and sports injuries. |

Vanessa
Rose - Physiotherapist

Vanessa graduated from the University of Hertfordshire
in 1996 with a BSc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy.
After qualifying, Vanessa gained experience in a
variety of roles, including orthopaedics, neurology
and outpatients before specialising in musculoskeletal
physiotherapy.
Prior to joining Healthworks Vanessa worked at St
Richard’s Hospital in Chichester where she developed
her interest in back and pelvic stability. Vanessa
has completed comprehensive post graduate training
in lumbar spine and pelvic conditions and she combines
her knowledge of muscle imbalance and core stability/clinical
Pilates with mobilisation techniques in her treatments.
Vanessa is also highly experienced in treating antenatal
and postnatal women with pelvic and lumbar spine conditions
such as Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD) and Sacroiliac
Joint (SIJ) pain.
Vanessa is a member of:

Brian
Richardson – Podiatrist/ Chiropody

Brian Qualified in 1982 from the London Foot Hospital,
University College London.
After qualifying, Brian went home to his native
Canada where he opened his own Private Podiatry Practice.
During his time in Canada, Brian was a Consultant
Podiatrist to post graduate medical students studying
General Medicine, Dalhousie University, Halifax N.S.
In 1987 Brian was the Consultant Podiatrist to Nova
Scotia Sports and Medicine and Orthopaedics Clinic,
Halifax, Canada. At this Clinic Brian worked closely
with Dr W Stanish, Chief Medical Olympic Organisation
and Assistant Editor of the Oxford Book of Sports
Medicine.
In 1988 Brian moved to the UK where he lectured
in English and Sports Injuries at Chichester College.
In 1993 Brian opened up his Private Podiatry Practice
in Chichester, where he works to this day.
Brian joined Healthworks in 2005 and has rapidly
built his business and reputation in the area. |

Jennie
Jones - BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapist

Jennie qualified as an Occupational Therapist in
1998 from Southampton University. Since then Jennie's
experience has predominantly been in the field of
orthopaedics (trauma and elective) both pre and post
operatively.
Her professional experience includes assessment for
and recommendation of equipment and minor adaptations
to assist in independence in activities of daily living.
As a senior Occupational Therapist at St Richards
Hospital in Chichester for the past 4 years Jennie
has lead the orthopaedic and surgical occupational
therapy team. During that time Jennie designed and
implemented an evidence based service which won recognition
at NHS national level. Jennie won an award at St Richards
Hospital in May 2007 for service innovation and improvement.
Jennie is a member of The British Association of Occupational
Therapists and College of Occupational Therapy (BAOT
and COT), The College of Occupational Therapists Specialist
Section in Independence in Practice and The College
of Occupational Therapists Specialist Section in Trauma
and Orthopaedics. |
